PER 213 Wide Area Search and Rescue

This class is Full. 

ND Department of Emergency Services is hosting Texas A&M Extensions Service (TEEX) to instruct PER 213 Wide Area Search and Rescue August 16-18, 2021.  Class will be held at the Bismarck/Burleigh EOC, 4200 Coleman St., Bismarck.  Class will begin at 8:00 a.m. each day and end by 5:00 p.m.  

The Wide Area Search course is designed to provide training for search responders to effectively conduct wide area searches due to natural disasters or man-made incidents. The course introduces the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform wide area searches at a disaster incident site. The course uses the 2007 Greensburg, Kansas tornado as a case study to demonstrate the various teaching points. The course concludes with a culminating event table top exercise that requires participants to utilize all the skills introduced throughout the course. 

The Incident Command System (ICS) is used in the course. Participants are encouraged to become familiar with the ICS by taking the following online courses before attending the course.
- IS-100.c - Introduction to Incident Command System
- IS-200.c - ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

A block of rooms has been reserved at Comfort Suites, 929 Gateway Ave., Bismarck. Call 701-223-4009 and ask for the "DES Wide Area Searc" block.  This block will be available until August 1, 2021

NDDES will reimburse eligible participants who live or work in ND and travel more than 50 miles, for hotel for the nights of 8/15/2021 through 8/17/2021(at state rate) and meal per diem according to policy.  We do not cover mileage.
